The sign on the church said,
“We have better sundays then
Baskin Robbins”-imagine my
disappointment when I went
in and didn’t get any ice cream…
That bumper sticker told me to
“Honk if you support quiet streets.”
Well everyone else started honking
too...and the streets, they weren’t so
quiet anymore…
That evangelist was on the billboard
informing us to prepare for the Rapture.
So May 21st, I gave away my assets
to those I was sure would be left behind,
now I’m the one walking the streets wearing
fig leaves…wonder where I’ll be when
the world ends on October 21st?
I’ve been swindled by fabricated advertisements
telling me what's right and what's wrong,
Been bamboozled by their commercialism
that spreads like disease,
but I know one thing-
I am not alone in falling for this deceit…
welcome to America.

ReplyDeletebumper stickers are business alike, of course.
Some are fun, some are tricky.
well stated cases here, enjoyed it.
Very clever!

ReplyDelete"I'd rather be Bowling"
Yep....Lies!
I especially like the ones which tell me if I don't do this, then that will happen.. Really? Now the bumper sticker is a psychic.
ReplyDeleteGreat way you tied in the theme with your poem..

Good thinking. Is it any wonder that there are more cynics than romantics in the world?
ReplyDeletehey there...all good...they took2 places off of me last week but determined them to be non cancerous...woohoo!
ReplyDeleteI missed this last week. Thanks for stopping by my 160, so I would come back here to visit you.
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed, welcome to America, the home of the fleecing...... I've become so desensitized to it that I've quit reading signs altogether.... It makes it difficult when I try to find a store or address, but it is really embarrassing at the grocery store when I "Push" instead of "Pull," when the sing clearly says to pull..... I would probably "Push" anyway, even if I did read the sing, because it's doubtful I would believe it....
ReplyDeletegreat to see you today!
ReplyDeletehope you are well.
